They’re Off

Well off we go and an interesting first day.

Loius Van Gaal has realised that Moyes wasn’t the only problem. Maybe playing Ashley Young as a left back was a mistake. Doubt if our LVG makes mistakes mind !

My team West Brom scrape a draw with last year’s fellow strugglers Sunderland.

None of the real fans can quite get their collective heads around why The Chairman has allowed our new strip to dispense with true stripes.

Glen Hodfle has joined the coaching staff at QPR, maybe some defensive coaching about man marking for Rio Glen ? His World Cup criticisms of better defenders coming home to roost.

Anyway more after today’s games from a Motorway Service station somewhere near you !!

Regards and good luck

The Voice of Football

As the new football season dawns we are all full of anticipation.

This Sunday the Community Shield ( ex Charity Shield ) kicks off between Man City and Arsenal.

All football fans will be facing the season with an increased frenzy.

Crazy really as only a handful of clubs can finish the season as winners but that seems to matter little to the fans of the 72 clubs in the Championship, League 1 or League 2.

Of course promotion is a goal and the ultimate rise into The Premiership is the utopian dream all owners, Managers and players yearn for.

So who is going to win and who are the favourites ?

Well let us start at the bottom ;

Champions  –   Southend United

Promoted   –    Burton Albion

League 1

Champions   –   Sheffield United

Promoted    –    Leyton Orient

The Championship

This I maintain is the most difficult of the divisions to forecast.

It is incredivbly competitive, probably because their are ex Premiership sides competing.

& Norwich City

Each of these sides have bought players in ands sold important players who had relagation clauses in their contracts.

Fulham have signed Ross McCormack but have lost Sudwell to Stoke and Richardson to Villa.

cardiff have lost Jordan Mutch and Steven Caulker with Gary Medal to follow. Although the arrival of Adam Le Fondre and Macheda who hjas arrive d from Manchester United.

Norwich have lost Snodgrass to Hull and will miss his goals but maybe Gary Hooper who may well continue to score in this league.

This leaves the Top League, the Premier League where I believe Chelsea will be too strong for Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal ansd Manchester United who may, hopefully improve on 7th place with the arrival of the miracle man Loius Van Gaal.

So let battle commence.

All those with more than one boot good luck.
